The programme

Reverence by Jessica Lang, set to Robert Schumann's Symphonic Studies, Op. 13, opens the evening.

Prayer, an imaginative work by WGRUV's own Lex and Holly Gruver, communicates depth and soul through the contemporary movement WGRUV is known for.

Diversion of Angels, the landmark 1948 ballet by Martha Graham, closes the programme. It traces three expressions of love: adolescent, romantic and mature. Staged in the Martha Graham Dance Company's centennial year, this is its South African premiere.

Running time: about 1 hour 30 minutes. The show is family friendly.

In Holly Gruver's words

“This program is a gift to Africa,” says Holly Gruver, Artistic Director of WGRUV. “Three works, three visions of what it means to love, to reach beyond ourselves, and to be still enough to see it. We’re grateful to carry Diversion of Angels into the Graham Company’s hundredth year, and to share it here, for the first time, with the audiences of South Africa.”
