Chloe Gruver

Chloe Gruver is a South African dancer from Midvaal, south of Johannesburg, who began her dance training at the age of three at a local studio in Alberton. From an early age, she trained extensively, attending daily classes and competing in numerous competitions, where she received her South African Dance Colours through the Dance Masters Association of South Africa, along with multiple national awards.

Throughout her formative years, Chloe participated in eisteddfods and ADA programmes and performed in the AAB Performance Awards, earning bursaries to attend the American Academy of Ballet Summer Intensive in New York in 2017 and 2018. She furthered her training at the National School of the Arts, specialising in Ballet, Contemporary, and Spanish dance, where she developed a strong technical and performance foundation.

Chloe continued her studies under Leanna Bowring, completing her A.I.D.T. Modern examinations, and competed in international platforms such as the Dance World Cup and SABOD. Her classical and contemporary training includes the Vaganova method and Martha Graham technique at the Johannesburg Academy of Ballet, where she trained under Angela Malan, Ken Yeatman, Holly Gruver, Lex Gruver, and Carli Oliver, and completed her Level 5 ABT Ballet examination.

As a first artist with WGRUV Dance Company, Chloe has performed in all company seasons and has worked with internationally renowned choreographers including Michael Trusnovec, Tyler Gilstrap, Dominic Walsh, Jessica Lang, and Lauren Lovett. She has also appeared as a guest artist with Joburg Ballet in Don Quixote (2023) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and performed in the South African National Dance Trust Gala (2025). In 2024, she further expanded her training internationally at Centro de Baile Jerez in Spain under Marta de Troya and Luisa Alfonzo.

“Dance has been one of the greatest joys of my life. It has shaped and challenged me, growing me into confidence and authenticity. For me, dance is more than performance—it is an act of worship. Through movement, I express gratitude, faith, and love, and my desire is to honour God while creating work that uplifts and impacts others. Being part of WGRUV is a true blessing—a space that fosters growth, excellence, and meaningful, soulful artistry.”
